Volume 1 Issue 7 October, 2007 www.emseng.com
Welcome Back!
We want to welcome you back for the seventh issue of the EMS Newsletter. By publishing this newsletter, we hope that you will remember our capabilities and consider EMS the next time you have a natural gas project. Our capabilities cover the spectrum of the industry. We have completed projects in all areas of moving and delivering natural gas. We even work on the liquid side. We have the resources to support your project!
Thanks for your time and attention. Now take a moment to catch up on EMS!
EMS puts Safety First
"SAFETY FIRST" is an old adage taking on new meaning at EMS. Judd Storey has joined our company as Director of Safety and Human Resources and will lead our concentrated efforts toward a safe environment for our clients, associates, and employees as we continue to provide services to the oil and natural gas industry. Although EMS has had a Safety Program for years, and we are proud of our safety record, we feel it necessary to refocus our efforts concerning safety and assure our clients, employees and friends that we put Safety First at EMS.
Judd attended Lee College and received his OSHA Certificates from Texas State College. He is a MSHA Certified Trainer; a Certified Master Trainer and Evaluator for both MEA & NCCER - he holds Train the Evaluator/Operator Qualifications; a Certificate of Safety and Health standards for Construction Industry (19 CFR 1926) as well as; Excavation, Trenching and Shoring (TEEX); 3M Respirator (Train the Trainer); CPR & First Aid
(AHA); Hydrogen Sulfide Training (LCR); Confined Space; Lock, Tag and Try; Scaffold Competent Person; and Fall protection.
Texas Gas Greenville Lateral Project
EMS continues to provide engineering and drafting services for this 97 mile 36-inch pipeline project. Approximately 315 property sketches have been completed for land acquisition and revisions to these are being made as negotiations with landowners' progress. Design and drafting of pipeline facilities is in progress.
Cast Iron Replacement is Ongoing Project
EMS is continuing to work for a large distribution company on approximately 22 miles of cast iron replacement projects to be completed in 2008. These projects are mainly in Northern Kentucky but are moving into southern Ohio where survey has begun work on 8.2 miles for an additional three modules for the 2008 construction year. These areas are located around the Cincinnati area. EMS is providing the expertise on the engineering, GPS surveying, and drafting efforts in the preparation of plans for permitting and construction purposes. EMS has been offered more of these projects in 2008.
Updating Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans
Energy Management & Services Co. has been instrumental in performing site visits and compiling the information to assist an Appalachian client with updates of their SPCC Plans. We developed a working plan format to fill the need. From that format, we have produced updated plans for two production fields, various compressor sites and numerous tank sites. EMS has produced SPCC Plans, Contingency Plans, Site Diagrams and Flow Topography maps to identify and plan corrective procedures in the case of a discharge. We look forward to continuing this process in the near future with other fields for this client and new tank locations as they are developed.
Chesapeake Energy Compressor Stations Nearing Completion
EMS is nearing design completion for the Chesapeake Energy field compressor station packages. Construction is complete at two locations and a third is approximately 95% finished. EMS is also providing inspection at all locations.
Survey Awarded to EMS
EMS was recently awarded survey on a liquid pipeline in Perrin, Texas. Energy Management & Services will provide survey for preliminary, construction and as-built alignment on approximately 12 miles of 6" pipeline.

EMS' Safety Tip for the Quarter
Hard Hats, not the Latest Fashion, but it could Save Your Life!
Hard hats protect you by providing the following features:
A rigid shell that resists and deflects blows to the head.
A suspension system inside the hat that acts as a shock absorber.
Some hats serve as an insulator against electrical shocks.
Shields your scalp, face, neck and shoulders against splashes, spills and drips.
Always wear your hard hat in the following conditions:
There is a possibility that a person may be struck on the head by a falling object.
A person may strike their head against a fixed or protruding object.
Accidental head contact may be made with electrical hazards.
Where there is risk of head injury.
If required to do so by an employer and/or the person in control of the workplace.
If your hard hat exhibits any of these defects, please alert your supervisor:
Cracking
Tearing
Fraying
What you should know:
In our industry, workplace hazards may threaten your head, therefore head protection is necessary.
Your supervisor will provide proper training for limitations of the head protection, when you must wear the head protection, and how to wear it properly.
INJURIES TO THE HEAD ARE VERY SERIOUS SO WEAR YOUR HARD HATS AND BE SAFE AT ALL TIMES. IT MIGHT JUST SAVE YOUR LIFE TODAY!
If you have any questions concerning head protection, please feel free to visit www.hardhats.4ursafety.com or contact Kasi Egbert at kegbert@emseng.com or (859) 873-0076.
